Do you have to do original material?

Yes, we would prefer at least two of your three songs be original but we will review any entrants and make a decision based on talent and artistry. 

Can solo performers apply?

We will accept solo performer applications if they are accompanied by a band.

When will the heats/semis/finals be held?

Heats and finals will be held in June/July. We will be posting more dates and information soon. Make sure to follow us so that you don’t miss a beat!

Where are the venues for the semis and finals?

We have a bunch of awesome venues involved including The Hoey Moey in Coffs, Paddington RSL in Sydney, Hume Conservatorium in Goulburn, and more venues and theatres to be announced. Make sure to follow us so that you don’t miss a beat!

What is the age range for applicants?

Applicants must be aged between 14-22. This means that entrants must not be more than two years out of high school.

Who will the mentors be?

Heat winners will be assigned to a mentor to help develop and refine the artists’ craft, stage presence and composition. Our group of experienced mentors include musicians, artists, production people and industry gurus who want to use their platform and expertise to nurture the best young talent in NSW.

Who are the judges?

Our judging panel is made up of creative arts industry experts from all aspects of performance, staging and promotion.

What are the prizes?

The winning band will receive a spot on a major festival main stage, with the possibility of signing a worldwide digital recording deal. Stay in the loop, prizes will be confirmed and announced in 2024.

Who are the judges for the Art Prize Competition?

Our judging panel is made up of creative arts industry experts from all aspects of performance, photography and design.

What regions in NSW are included in this competition?

There will be Semis in the Northern Rivers (Hoey Moey), Sydney Metropolitan (Paddington RSL), South and Southern Highlands (Goulburn Conservatorium), Western Sydney (TBA), Central Tablelands (Orange- Venue TBA), Riverina (Wagga Wagga- Venue TBA), and ACT (Venue TBA).

How does mentoring work?

All artists that enter will receive the option of mentoring from one of our industry professionals. All finalists will also have the opportunity to participate in a weekend workshop, which will cover all aspects of the creative arts industry.

How does Judging work?

We do not like the word ‘judging’ but the winners will be picked by a panel of industry professionals, and also from the audience votes.

What equipment will be available?

A full production schedule will be issued closer to the live semis. We will have full concert production, which will include multiple vocal mics as well as cordless mics, fold back etc. There will also be a backline supplied (i.e drums, Guitar Amps, Bass Amp, Keyboard Amp)

Is there different categories?

Yes there will be 3 separate categories

  1. Bands or performers 14 – end of high school 
  2. Bands or performers after high school to 24 years 
  3. Rap/Hip Hop 14 – 24 years
